Hi there! I'm Gav, from Victoria.

I used to own a longhaired Blue Merle Koolie, called Tippy. We got her from a farm in 1991 in Bealiba, she lived to the ripe old age of 14. She was rather tennis ball obsessed (I built a tennis ball cannon to exercise her) and she loved to come on car and train trips.

I've just ended up by myself, so I'm actually deciding if I want to get another dog as a companion.

welcome1.gif Hi Gav

Welcome also, to the Koolie Forum, even if you don't decide to find a new soul mate I hope you stick around and enjoy the company. If you are within range of Central Victoria our next meeting is this coming Sunday at Neilborough near Bendigo and you would be most welcome to join us.

Perhaps you could consider a rescue, Koolie Rescue are happy to give potential new owners the opportunity to take the rescues home to see how they settle in and if they don't get on, are free to return them to Rescue. I know it is extremely difficult to take the step to replace a lost favourite dog, but from experience I can tell you the new dog will create it's own place in your heart and the old are always there.

Good Luck!!! biggrin.gif

I most certainly would be looking at a used dog, for a few reasons, top one is they need a home, but I've just gotta find a rental house that's in my budget that allows pets.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I'm busy this Sunday, so I won't be going to Neilborough. If it were last Sunday, and I knew, would have attended, as I was in Eaglehawk then.

Welcome Gav, Good Luck adding a new addition!!! I can not tell you how rewarding it is to have a rescue dog and see them change and become your new best mate!!! I just love the rescues!!!! You are welcome to come down to our herding training on Saturday morning if you like. We train at the Elmore field days site from 8am-12pm. We are all happy to talk Koolie with you for hours on end!!!! (plus you get to see a rescue dog on their first day of herding, wish me luck!!!) I understand the problems with renting with a dog (we rented with two) but what the agent didn't know didn't hurt them!!!! LOL if you get what I mean!!!! funny.gif

Hi Gav

This looks like fun doesn't it. Hopefully you will find a place soon that allows a dog. Sometimes I love the company of my dogs more than I do of people.

Have a great day!

I know the feeling, I wouldn't be without my dogs, although it gets a bit difficult at times with 7 of them. (plus 8 puppies)

Hi Gav:
Sorry to hear about loosing the best friend, we have all been there mate, so know the value of what you have lost.
If you have pic’s you can load them in our rainbow forum, its where we visit all our lost loved mates and introduce them and their lives to our new friends here.
When your ready and settled in a pet friendly environment, drop us a line at Koolie rescue, and we will help locate a good Koolie who would love the opportunity to have the life it deserves. beer.gif
