I took these photos before the rain, we went to the same spot over easter but the whole area was under water and strong rapids at the tops of the rocks that were exposed. So of course we could not disappoint we took them for a swim in the irrigation channel along the way home.

Tinaroo is a huge dam that is used to irrigate the local farms. Where I swim the dogs is the continuation of the Barron River that supplies water to Tinaroo. The Lake itself although is a perfect swimming place is usually too fully of people swimming, fishing, boating etc to take the dogs there so we take them upstream. There is a channel that takes the water to the farms across the Tablelands which has a road following it and it is a perfect walking or horse riding spot to take the dogs they can run then when they get hot they jump in and swim for a bit.

Cool! A koolie klan!!!! KKK!!! (Kool Koolie Klan)
Lots of reds!!
How many are related?
JackieH
"Sheringa Poppy" and "Sheringa Pixie" are full sisters out of the same litter from Sheringa Koolies Victoria(TJ's breeding) and Harley (the longer coat) is "Turramina Red Pheonix" from Turramina Koolies in Brisbane and "Smith" is "Brescott Smithy" solid red male (fingers crossed)from Brescott Koolies in NSW.

I started collecting Koolies when I lost my kelpie to a car accident and couldn't make my mind up which one to keep so kept them all and because I live so far north and there are no other Koolies that I know of we got our boy Smith from NSW.

I have always had red ACD's (at the moment between by OH and me we have four red Yardi, Abbey, Red and Patch) with the occasional blue ACD (Mikkie and Lou Lou) but I am a convertee to the Koolie breed after one day of having the three Koolie pups.

I so wish I had a swimming hole like that around here. I love your dogs and your preference in colour, I am very partial to the reds myself. Harley looks a tad like Ceejay with his colouring.
JackieH
Harley is a girl but that is ok. Poppy and Pixie are probably related down the line somewhere to Ceejay as originally they were TJ's breeding from Sheringa Koolies.

I would be lost without the swimming holes, they all just love the water and will swim for hours. I just take a book and read for a while they have their swim. The ACD's are a bit higher maintenance I have to throw the stick for them or they just stand there and look or bark at me. Just as well I can multi task ... read and throw the stick. Keeps them all happy and an excellent way of exercising them as well.
Ceejay
Oops sorry, hope I didn't offend. Ooh Ceejay has more relations than I do I get so excited about that as my dogs in the past have all been mixed and rescues so never really knew their family history. I so want another koolie but my OH has put his foot down (in a kind way). "sigh"
