Hi a big welcome sound like your boy keeps you on your toes lol, hand couple of ballons half full of water on the line when he jumps up to drag them off they will bust and give him a little be of a scare that may stop him and the same with the holes just put a ballon in his holes and cover them over with dirt but it does sound like he is very bored and needs to let of steam what about doing agility with him koolies are very smart and learnt it quickly just look in the phone book under dog clubs and find the one closest to you, sorry i live in Q.L.D so thats the best i can come up with from up here, i hope that helps you a bit

Hi Marc and welcome to the forum! Sounds like you have a dog with lots of drive! Obedience and agility would burn off some of that energy - trick training too! I've found putting fresh poo in the holes works really well too. The balloons from the clothesline can work or giving the dog something else to do like a bone or treat ball to keep them occupied when you first hang them out. Otherwise it's a management issue - putting dog away when you have clothes on the line - not always the easy option though!

Welcome Marc!! Here's a coincedence - I grew up in Clayton!! Just down the road from Monash Uni. Lived there until I was 22, yes everyone I am a city girl born and bred. I now live in Echuca on a dry dusty farm. I hope you enjoy the forum and feel welcome to join us at a club meeting anytime. Visitors are always welcome and there is no obligation to join, we meet at Neilborough near Bendigo and our next meeting is due May 3rd.
As far as somewhere to work your dog, farmers aren't really inclined to just let your dog play with their valuable stock. There are dog clubs that include sheep dog training and as it happens there is one at Warragul that is having a trial TOMORROW (Saturday) at Darnum. Kool Dog is planning to attend so he may be able to give you contact details after he has been. Dogs certainly benifit from attending training so hopefully you can catch up with them.

welcome2.gif Welcome to the forum Marc, sounds like you have a high energy ball of fun there. Keeping their mind active is the key, trick training is a great way to start. Find a clicker and treats and start small, like shake. Go to the site wwww.dogwise.com there are a lot of doggy books on there about clicker training and tricks. And the benefits you get to show off your dog when they learn a neat trick.

Ceejay is my koolie but she has a friend called Izzy a Kelpie x and they play and play and play. Plus walking, structured then play time with the walk, and obedience and agility too! The pair of them are run on high octane, love it, you get great interaction out of high energy dogs.

Be sure to go to one of the meetings, if I was down there I would! To meet Koolies all the time, a bit deprived of koolies this way.
