Hi, its about time I introduce myself. My name is Natalie and I am looking at getting a Koolie for my next dog sometime in the future. While "lurking" in the background I saw the rescue request for Bella and have offered to Foster her until a suitable home can be found for her. This will work for both of us as she will have a nice place to hang and run around on ( I live on 5 acres and the dogs front yard is about 2 acres) while we find her forever home or until she can get down to Kerrie and we will get to "test drive" a Koolie to see if it will fit in with our family. Bella is due to arrive on Tuesday with the help of her transporter and I will put up lots of photos and let you know how she is going.

welcome2.gif to the forum. You will get all the information you will need about Koolies here!!!
I too once transported and fostered a dog for Kerrie. Almost two years later he is still with us!!! LOL. He had found his forever home the moment we picked him up from the pound!!!
I hope you enjoy having a foster around!! They are great fun!

That is great good work I'm so happy that someone is willing to take the time to look after her until she can find a family of her own.

Welcome Natalie Diello.gif You're in Koolie land now-you've just sealed your own fate forever ha ha. This is a really great forum and it's great to have a South Coast member now. The pound people tell me Bella is a sweetie, if my pushy rotten blokes look twice at her in the car, I reckon I'll be belting them all the way from Wyong to Sutherland. What a bloody ordeal-but just another day for me. Ha Ha. My guess is you'll have no probs training her up if what they say at Wyong is true. I can probably guess at her general breeding and background and will give as much info as I can. Look forward to meeting you-ha ha-you're sucked in now! d.gif

She does sound very sweet and thanks again for doing the big drive with an overnight stay for her. Without you doing that, she very well may have been left there as Its just a little to far for me. My husband and I fell in love with her the moment we saw her, however we already have one rescue dog that has a suitcase with enough baggage to cloth almost every dog in the world and we are not really prepared to go down that route again with the next dog ( maybe the one after - but not the next one). Things may change when she gets here but I have to say she has to be close to perfect for her to stay as I have a puppy on order which we are all excited about. Her age will also put her to close to my other dogs as we wanted to spread the joy out a bit. Rescue dog just turned 3, Other dogs, 4, 9 & 13.

We lost one of our dogs about a month ago now very young and very unexpected so we have the "room" to help out. By fostering her, I will be able to sleep well at night knowing if she was right for us or not rather than pass her up and regret it. With the back up of Koolie rescue behind me it make the process so much easier for everyone. Either way, she will have been saved from being PTS eventually so that is a good thing. OH those eyes. so calm in such a situation!

One bonus for her is that she was surrendered so has no "street cred" which is what I dealing with my other rescue as her family obviously cared enough to surrender her rather than any other option. Picture this, a working BC x Kelpie that is obsessive on balls/ponies and anything else that moves, sitting on the start line at agility not prepared to get over that first jump. And when he does, he is so painfully slow I can have a picnic between obstacles!

I dont know if I am up for that much "fun" again. Ill talk to you on Monday night and see you on Tuesday. Can picture how exciting your drive will be with her and the boys and I figure you will be at the meeting spot early just to settle the boys back down.

welcome2.gif Natalie!!!

And a big Thank You for rescuing Bella. She looks a sweetie. I'm looking forward to hearing how she settles in.

I know what you mean about rescues with baggage. I'm working with a foster carer at the moment with a dog (not a koolie) that has so many issues his long term prospects are not good unfortunately.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Koolies. They are a dog quite unique in a good way. Willing to please. I have a friend that rescued one around her, and she is lovely started off very timid but her confidence is fantastic now. Any questions or problems just post them up and we are more than happy to offer advice and encouragement.

Haven't been here long myself, but I've found it to be a very friendly place.
