Tammy’s First Christmas
Waking up on boxing morn
Amongst detritus from Christmas dawn
With bales of paper, string and glue
Now what else can a young dog do
Rolling over and over in Christmas glee
All of this just left for me
Inside the house a bomb has blown
Every paper torn and thrown
Then of course the Boss walks in
His hand is slowly rubbing his chin
He looks at me with accusing eye
As if the cause for this was nigh
I resist the impulse to run and bolt
He already knows that I’m at fault
So on my back I shamelessly beg
Wagging my tale against his leg
Standing there his face mask
Escape from this might be a task
Then he says its Christmas time
He smiles and says “Dam dog of mine”
He starts to clean the rubbish up
His look says loudly "Don’t push your luck"
Now I’m a dog but I’m not dumb
I’ve actually got away with my Christmas fun.
